This comes very cheap in a slightly bulky packaging. I had high hopes for this product since the swatches I saw online looks great. When I did apply this on my eyelids, it looked like I smeared mud on my skin. The pigments are everywhere. It's the opposite of flattering. I would definitely not buy another hard candy eye shadow ever again.

This is a beautiful greenish brown with golden glitter. You have to either apply it wet or over a colored base to get the full effect.

While doing some Spring cleaning of my stash, I found that this is a 'dupe' for Laura Mercier's black karat baked eyeshadow. The glitter is not as prominent in the HC one, but the color is almost identical.

I bought this for 6 dollars for Walmart because it was so sparkly and pretty in the packaging, and because I love brown and gold with my green eyes.

When I opened it, I was a little disappointed with the amount of product, the plastic top is deceiving, and there's a lot less product inside than what it seems like on the shelf.

Then I went to put it on with my brush, and I guess it's because it's baked eyeshadow (I've neve used baked before), but I got barely anything at all. So then I used a felt applicator, which grabbed more product when I used pressure. I wasn't happy at all at first...it was very sheer, and I had to put tons of layers on to get a good color. Plus it creased in two hours and there was gold glitter fallout all over my face in an hour.

I was quite upset.

And THEN I HAD AN IDEA. I wet my brush a little (my felt applicator soaks up too much water) and built up a solid chocolate color, but the glitter doesn't really show up when you apply wet. Then, before the brown could fully dry, I used my index finger, swirled it around the shadow (which collects a lot of the gold glitter) and firmly patted it into the drying brown. I guess it kind of sealed the glitter into the shadow, because it had a CONSIDERABLY smaller amount of fallout. Oh, and I started off with a cheap ELF primer.

Now I love this eyeshadow when I do it this way, because it stays for about five to six hours (not the best, but decent) and it really accents the green and good in my eyes. My only complaint is the small amount of product, and I think it's a little over priced for the amount you get.

But it's so flattering that I'm definitely going to buy it again.

I got this a Walmart for $6 because it looked GORGEOUS on the shelf. I was expecting it to be a nice looking multi-dementional gold color, but it was disspointing. It's actually a reallllllllllyyyyy dark looking ugly color. I used it as an all over lid and it was way too dark to even look good. The glitter doesn't even really show up when i Put it on. Even with primer, It sucked.
All though, I did get complements on how pretty it looked, but I don't care for it.
Now, I just use it to create smoky eyes, which works well.
I don't reccomend!

What made me buy this was how awesome it looked on the shelf. The colours looked absolutely amazing and for less than 5$, how could I go wrong. I bought the blue and gold (Asteroid and Lunar Eclipse). I swatched them as soon as I got home, trying both a wet and dry application. The wet is bold and metallic while the dry (obviously) provides a sheerer coverage. The gold looks the best dry and wet while I think I'll stick to wet application for the blue because the dry application looks a little washed out. Both applications contain hints of glitter. If your aren't into glitter, I found that a little blending dispersed most of the glitter particles while leaving the metallic finish intact. Again in the dry application, the gold retained it's colour better after blending than the blue. Overall, you get a good amount of product for the price, it's available at wal-mart, and though limited, there are some funky colours. I'll probably try the others too once I've used these for awhile and tested their staying power. Thumbs up from me.
EDIT: ok. I tried it on my eyes for the first time over UDPP. the colours came out much darker than on the swatch test, almost charcoal looking. Not vibrant at all. And there was a lot of fallout and I was left with glitter all over my face. I may repot and use as a liner rather than keep these as a shadow. Bummer. I really wanted to like these.

EDIT again: I didn't want to waste my purchase and tried another approach. Broke up all the shadow and mixed it with saline solution (contact lens solution) and put it back in the pan. Now, it functions as a cream to powder eyeshadow. The colour is much better and there is less fallout (though more noticeable in the blue than the gold). Just have to make sure to use a brush designed for cream shadow, or it's really hard to pick up. I am bumping my review back to 3. I would actually like to give it a 3.5. It work's decent, but not off the shelf and requires a bit of fiddling to make it look good.

I don't put shadows on my lids, I bought this to use wet as an eyeliner, for which I thought it would look interesting and multi-dimensional. After swatching it on my hand, I was disappointed. It just looked muddy. In the pan, you can clearly see the gold. After application, it's just a gross garbage mud color. It also has a ton of fallout.
Of course, I won't be repurchasing.

Amazing eyeshadow, such brilliant colour! Got Hard Candy in Walmart now and was amazed at the price, 6$ and it's got great pigment!

I absolutely LOVE this shadow. It's very pretty and unlike any of the other shadows I own (which is a feat in and of itself since I own dozens and dozens of neutral/brown shadows.) I love this as a crease and outer v shade with a shimmery natural shadow on the lid. It lasts all day for me with a primer and the payoff is very nice. It does have a touch of glitter, but it's not overwhelming and it doesn't get all over the place. IMHO, this is one of the best low-end buys out there right now.

Let me just start off by saying that when asked whether I would buy this product again, I would say yes, but I don't think that I would puchase the same colour (Lunar Eclipse) again. The shade just isn't the most flattering on me. In the pot, Lunar Eclipse looks like a beautiful golden-green with tons of gold glitter. But a swipe on the back of my hand or eyelid yields a muddy-looking taupe with lots of gold glitter. Just doesn't complement my warm, light brown skintone. These eyeshadows definitely need to be applied wet for good staying power. A base would be an even better idea. I use it over MAC's greasepaint stick and the eyeshadow stays put all night, with minimal glitter fallout, even in a hot club. I absolutely adore the packaging...small round pots with the Hard Candy logo engraved on the top. Looks so much more expensive than the six bucks I paid at Wal-Mart. I definitely plan on purchasing more of these little gems!

I uploaded a picture of Hard Candy Lunar Eclipse and MACS Gilt By Association in the photos here to show you how these 2 shadows are almost identical. In the pots they look similar but on the are honestly identical other then the fact that the hard candy version has a tad less glitter and fall out which I think most people will actually like even better. In real life these swatched even more alike then in the photo. For those of you looking for MACs Gilt by Association save yourself alot of money and time searching for the HTF LE shadow and buy Hard Candy's version. I purchased the hard candy shadow at WalMart for $6.00.
