I was having a love affair with tubing mascara (I'm looking at you, Clinique Lashpower) but I found the formulas would just dry out way too fast...it wasn't even possible to use the whole tube. I wanted to try EP Gigablack because of the reviews on MUA - but this mascara (at least, in Canada) is not a tubing mascara. Waterproof tho....water alone doesn't take it off but comes off easily with soap added. My tube is new so the formula is still pretty wet (read: apply carefully or it will wind up all over your eyelid). It clumps if you're not careful but the brush is the bomb. It gets every. Single. Lash. My lower lashes are practically non-existent and this mascara *gives* me lower lashes. And super length on top (not much volume). I don't find it holds a curl when I just use my eyelash curler....however if I sort of push my eyelashes up with my fingers when the mascara is about 75% dry....it holds. Maybe it will hold the initial curl better as the tube dries out. I can imagine that if your natural lashes have any kind of volume or length this mascara will make them look amazing! At 20 bucks for a little tube though, it's pretty pricey. However I haven't found a drugstore mascara that comes close.

1000x yes i would buy this again! HG mascara. Gives just the right amount of volume, LOTS of length+curl, comes off easily with just water yet stays put all day without transferring. This is amazing. you need it.

Really good tube mascara for everyday use. Does not smudge or clump . Stays good and longevity is amazing under extreme weather conditions. The best part is that it can be easily removed just by lukewarm tap water.

Surprised there aren't more reviews on this! I thought this was my HG mascara, but seemingly over time it has caused nasty irritation (red bumps) around my eye area, particularly the lower lash area, and some slight stinging... It was a sad day when I realized this was the product causing it. However, my long-ish sparse lashes looked terrifically dark and long, with some volume, perfect for every day.

Wand: 5/5 Very skinny and not plastic, which helps grab every lash. Perfect for those with shorter lashes like me.
Pigment: 5/5 Very black, never ashy!
Volume: 3/5 Not too volumizing, but definitely helps. My lashes are sparse though, and I only use 2 coats. I couldn't build beyond 2 coats before it got clumpy.
Length: 4/5
Formula: 5/5 Perfect mix of wet and dry, on the dry side. This makes application nice and non-messy, but it does tend to get flaky if you use it a few (2-3) months.
Clumpiness: 3/5 Gets clumpy if you try to build beyond ~2 coats.
Smudging: 4/5 Generally pretty good, and much better than others I've tried, but is not smudge-proof.

Sigh, wishing I could still use this.

Really love this one. I have been using a tubing mascara on my lower lashes for about 7 or 8 years, but never found one that I like using on my upper lashes. I like a lot of volume, and I find most tubing mascaras either look really natural or just provide length and not enough volume for me. However, this one I can use on both top and bottom lashes and I can actually get it to look dramatic enough for me. I also have kind of small eyes so the super thin brush is really helpful to avoid smudging during application, and I find that this also doesn't dry out as fast as a lot of other mascaras. It's also reasonably priced for a higher end mascara. I see myself always having a tube of this on hand.

I curl my lashes with a spoon (say no to eyelash curlers!) and it's very difficult finding a mascara that will not weigh my lashes down and remove the curl. This mascara is one of the few name brand mascaras that keeps my curl in tact. I would recommend to first apply to the tips of your eyelashes and apply inward. It really helps to elongate the lashes. After that has dried, proceed to apply mascara on the roots which will add definite volume. The wand is very thin, but it gets in there. Definitely recommend.

I can't say enough good things about this mascara! Since trying it a year ago, it's the only one I've stuck with. At first, I was skeptical of the small wand. I was suprised with how much volume and length it gave me! Also, I love that I can put it on early in the morning and be sur that it will last all day without smudging or flaking. Best MAC mascara!

This is a great mascara for lengthening your lashes. It comes with a slim wand which separates lashes very well. The texture is great too; it's not clumpy at all and goes on very evenly. It's also very black, and as someone with naturally black lashes it doesn't look ashy on my eyes at all. If you're looking for mega volume, it would take a few coats to build it up. I have naturally long lashes and find that it makes them stand out very well, with a decent amount of volume too- and I just apply a single coat. It would help to curl your lashes beforehand though!
I bought it because I had heard and read reviews about it not smudging, but having oily eyelids, I find that it does smudge somewhat on the area above my eyelids. It's the same with my lower lashes, I think the oil from my face (sorry that doesn't sound pleasant at all) causes it to smudge below my eyes. However, if I powder the area below my eyes thoroughly it lasts much better. I do like this mascara a great deal but would not say it is my HG mascara, but I love the way it makes my lashes look separated and thick.
