This is the only liner that stays on my waterline! Urban Decay 24/7 and MUFE Aqua Eyes both let me down, but this works. It's $$, but worth it to get results.

The first thing I noticed when testing the eyeliner is that the color is very pretty and has a subtle sparkle to it. I had problems applying it as I had to work hard to get the pencil to leave any line on my lids. It is also very difficult to remove with non-oil based makeup removers. For these reasons I do not intend to repurchase it.

I'm not usually a fan of pencil liners, but I like them for travel or when I'm in a hurry--no brush necessary. This Marc Jacobs pencil is the best I've ever used. Brown Out is a perfect medium-to-dark brown that's not too red---a problem with many brown liners of any type--that has a light sprinkling of silver sparkle that sets off the shade nicely and is not overwhelming. Although it's a twist-up type (in very elegant silver-colored packaging), it maintains a good point--excellent for getting a thin line on the inner corner of the lid. This pencil lays down a skip-free, easy-glide line in one pass that can be smudged or not, as you wish. The wear is incredible--it looks the same all day, through heat, sweat, rain, sleep--throw anything at it and I think it will hold up, yet I had no problem removing it with a biphase remover. This pencil is the top of the line and worth the somewhat pricey investment. I've already bought Navy Noir.

Over time, I've become more of a gel eyeliner type of girl. It's a little more forgiving, a little more wiggle room, and it's a little easier to use than liquid or pencil liners in some cases. However, there are always exceptions and the Marc Jacobs Highliner is mine.

I really adore this pencil eyeliner. It's very creamy and pigmented and spreads well. Some shades may be a little on the less pigmented or chalkier side (Brown Out is not one of them), but they always stay put. It takes several rounds of makeup remover to get it off my hand, but when I wear it around my eyes, it comes off with my micellar water removal easily yet stays all day without budging or giving the dreaded raccoon eyes. It has lasted 12+ hours before without any signs of fading.

I prefer Brown Out because it helps make my blue eyes pop and it's less harsh than a black eyeliner. It looks very natural and is wonderful for tightlining. I have sensitive eyes (I wear contacts) and this did not irritate them.

The only downsides to this product are the price (a hefty $25 per 0.01 oz of pencil; compared to UD 24/7 Eyeliner of $20/0.04 oz or MUFE's Aqua Eyes at $19/0.04 oz) and they can dry out. Don't make the mistake I had made with mine and lose the cap; it will become dry and unusable that way. While it lasted, it was a great product and I'd definitely repurchase them (though, likely only during the Sephora VIB Sales or any sales on Marc Jacobs Beauty.)

- Remove easily from eyes with micellar water or makeup removal
- Did not upset sensitive eyes
- Long wearing

Cons:

- Expensive ($25/0.01 oz)
- Can dry out if left uncovered (though, considering it is a gel eye crayon, this is not surprising)
- Some shades can be chalky or less pigmented

This is my absolute favorite pencil liner on the planet, and I'm gutted that it is so exorbitantly priced, since I know I'll someday run out of it and have to replace it.
Anyway, this particular shade is every brown-eyed girl's dream. It's a gorgeous warm brown with golden bronze shimmer that makes light brown eyes really gleam.
Even on my oily lids, this stuff lasts all day without smudging or migrating to my crease. I do use a primer, but let's face it, some liners are rubbish and will crease and smudge no matter what you put underneath them. This doesn't. This could withstand the Exxon Valdez.
The packaging is gorgeous, and the twist-up mechanism feels sturdy and of high quality.
At $25, this stuff is criminally overpriced, and I'm thinking I'll only splash out for this on days when I'm feeling uber spendy and want to treat myself. However, I'm in the midst of trying to find a passable dupe, and it's been quite difficult to find something quite as magical as this wonderful liner. I know it's Marc Jacobs and that name will carry with it a high premium, but ouch.
Overall, a wonderful product despite the high price.

I have oily hooded lids, so eyeliner transferring into my creases during the day is usually expected (it happens to me with Urban Decay's 24/7 pencils and stila stay-all day liquid liner, both of which seem to work for other people with hooded lids). I splurged on this rather expensive, for me, eyeliner precisely because of reading about how it really stays put (I also had a sephora coupon at the time, which helped), and I have to say, it really does stay put. I am impressed. I don't have to use primer or anything; it stays on all day only where i applied it in the morning; it's pretty re-marc-able (sorry, I had to). the color itself is great for me, I have brown hair and wanted something suitable for my job in an office; it's not super exciting but it has some nice shimmer. I only wish the supposed internal sharpener actually sharpened; I can't get a very thin line, but for me that's a moot point because I have hooded lids anyway, haha. It's not fragranced which is a plus for me, and it applies like a dream - so smooth, right out of the gate. in the winter my bedroom is rather cold, which is where I keep my makeup, so the fact that this glides on without needing to be warmed up is also...remarkable. I would definitely buy other Marc Jacobs eyeliners; I think they're worth the price, considering their performance and texture.

This liner is absolutely GORGEOUS! The golden shimmer in the brown base really does wonders for making my light brown eyes pop. It's also super budge-proof, staying for hours on my waterline. Smudging it before it sets gives it a perfectly blown out look without it practically wiping off (as some of these gel liners tend to do when smudged out). I really do love it, and it was a terrific gift to get with my VIB points. The packaging is also very pretty and I like the twist-up mechanism. Looks class, feels sturdy.
However, I will not repurchase this. $25 for one eyeliner is just too much for me, especially when Sephora's house brand carries near identical dupes that are also of great quality for less than half the price.
If the price ever gets lowered, I will definitely give this another whirl. Until then, I'll stick to buying the dupes and in the meantime, use this particular pencil very sparingly.

This stuff does not budge. I have very oily skin, and my eyeliner smudges pretty easily - even waterproof ones. I also wear contact lenses- and this eyeliner doesn't go anywhere. You have to remove it with makeup remover (which I always seem to forget) but it stays in place.

It's a really nice brown color - and the packaging is fine - can't really tell how much is left, but I'm fine with that - as long as it stays where it's supposed to when I apply it.

I've repurchased this a number of times and will continue to do so - it's my go-to brown eyeliner.

Yes, I would buy this again if price weren't an issue and if I hadn't found an exact dupe for about 1/3 the price. I got a half-sized sample of Brown(Out) with my VIB points and, don't get me wrong - this is a wonderful liner and the colour is gorgeous - a bronze-brown with golden/bronze shimmer. But I find the price a bit hard to take - $30 Canadian for 0.05g (that is half a gram....illegal drugs are cheaper, I'd be willing to bet!) What is even more alarming is that for a fraction of the price ($12 CDN) you can get Sephora's own Contour Eye Liner Pencil in the shade Cappuccino which is virtually IDENTICAL to Brown(out) in colour and, in my experience, it measures up just as well in how and well it wears. It may not apply quite as smoothly (though I don't notice a significant difference) and you do have to sharpen it but still, $12 vs $30. It's also possible (I have to check the tiny print on the side of my pencils) but I think you get considerably more in the Sephora pencils. If you want to save yourself a bundle, at least consider checking out the Sephora pencils (there are also dupes for Overt and (Stone)Fox in their retractable pencil collection).

Update: (Nov. 2014) I am sort of eating my words...sort of. In the Sephora VIB 20% off sale, I went and treated myself to a full size of this pencil. Even at 20% off, this is still a really expensive liner because you get so little product (although the amount does seem comparable, by weight, to other "twist up" liners) but this is such a lovely pencil and lasts so well, especially on the waterline. If they were about 10 bucks less at regular price, I'd probably own 3 or 4 more of them. I think next time there's a 20% off sale, I might just treat myself to 2 more of these. Still way too pricey but they are really good.

This eyeliner is awesome and long-lasting. This color is a sparkly bronze and glides on so smoothly that you cannot even feel it. It lasted all day, even through a two-hour hike, and did not melt off my face. I will definitely repurchase.
