I bought this on a whim because Ulta was having a buy one get the second 50% off on NYX. I don't contour everyday & I am not a pro at doing it which is why i've never bought a very expensive or cream contour palette. This is a great palette though & the price makes it even better!! I'm a caramel complexion, black women & I've been able to wear all of the different contour's. I haven't worn any of the highlighters yet but i'm sure it'll be fine. I was most concerned about being able to wear the contour's. The contour's range from natural to dramatic. I have a caramel complexion & could wear them all but if you're dark brown or darker skinned, this probably won't show up on you.

I am fairly new to contouring. This palette is so great because it has several shades to accomodate skin tone and for a soft or strong contour.

As a beginner with contouring I didn't want to spend a lot of money while I learned the technique so I got this wide color palate. I love the color choices and feel that they go on well, but the darks seem hard to blend in and I find I am left with such a harsh line when I use them. I have mixed the lighter of the darkest colors with the lighter ones to see if this would help and even used a lighter hand, but I always seem to have such a dark hard line. I am going to try a different brush and see if that helps.Another thing I do not like is the light pigmentation of the highlighters. I have to put on several coats for them to seem visible which in turn gives a cakey appearance.It also doesn't last all day even with using primer and finisher.Yes I would recommend it to beginners and I am glad I bought this so I can learn more about contouring, but next time I will likely get something with fewer shades that I would actually use and more pigmentation.
